Boiler Installation, Service & Repair in Summerland, Penticton & the South Okanagan

Alongside everyday plumbing, Fontus Plumbing & Heating handles home heating: boilers, combi boilers, hydronic and in-floor radiant heat, and panel radiators across Summerland, Penticton, Naramata, Peachland, and West Kelowna. We're a local plumbing and heating shop, not a furnace and air-conditioning company, so boilers and hot water are what we focus on. We install new high-efficiency boilers, replace old ones, service them, and repair them when that's still the smarter call. Clean piping, proper venting, and code-compliant work. We work Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with emergency call-outs evenings and weekends when available. No heat? Call or text (250) 274-0132.

Boiler replacement and new installs

Replacing an older boiler is a chance to get the size and efficiency right. Many homes are a good fit for a high-efficiency condensing boiler, which typically needs its own venting and a condensate drain. We size the boiler to your home's heat loss and the system it's feeding, not just the old nameplate, and handle the gas, venting, and piping to code. Permits are part of the plan where the job requires one.

Combi boilers: heat and hot water in one

A combi boiler heats your home and supplies on-demand hot water from one wall-hung unit, so it can replace a boiler and a separate hot water tank and free up floor space. It works a lot like a tankless water heater for your taps, so it suits many homes well, but very high simultaneous hot water use can outpace it. We'll tell you whether a combi or a boiler with a separate tank fits your household better.

Annual boiler service

Most manufacturers recommend servicing a boiler once a year, and before the heating season is a good time to book. A typical service includes:

  • Checking combustion and burner operation
  • Inspecting venting, and cleaning and checking the condensate trap and drain on condensing boilers
  • Checking system pressure, the expansion tank, and the relief valve
  • Testing controls, thermostats, and safety shut-offs
  • Checking pumps, zone valves, and the piping for leaks or corrosion
  • Telling you what we found and anything worth planning for

No heat? Boiler repair

When the house is cold, the cause can be anything from a tripped control or a failed pump to low system pressure or an ignition fault. Tracking it down is billed at our labour rate ($125/hr), and we'll tell you what we found and what it will take before any repair goes ahead. We work on boilers we didn't install, too.

Hydronic heat, in-floor radiant, and panel radiators

Hydronic loops, in-floor radiant heat, panel radiators, and the plumbing that ties heat and hot water together. Quiet, even heat without a forced-air overhaul. We can connect an existing in-floor or radiator system to a new high-efficiency boiler, add or rebalance zones, and fix the leaks, air, and noise that creep into older systems.

How we quote

Labour is $125/hr. Boiler replacements and combi installs get a flat quote after we see the job. No-heat calls where the cause isn't obvious are billed at our labour rate, and you'll know what we found before any repair goes ahead.

Boiler and hydronic heating services

  • High-efficiency boiler installation and replacement
  • Combi boiler installation (heat plus on-demand hot water)
  • Annual boiler service and maintenance
  • No-heat diagnosis and boiler repair, including boilers we didn't install

  • Panel radiators and zone work
  • Expansion tanks, pumps, zone valves, and pressure issues
  • Indirect hot water tanks and tankless hot water

Signs your boiler needs attention

  • No heat, or some rooms or zones staying cold
  • The pressure gauge dropping again after you've topped it up, or creeping up high
  • The relief valve dripping or discharging
  • Banging, gurgling, or kettling noises from the boiler or pipes
  • Water around the boiler, pipes, or radiators
  • The boiler short-cycles (turns on and off often) or shows an error code
  • Higher gas use than usual with no change in how you live
  • It's been more than a year since its last service

Boiler questions

  • How often should a boiler be serviced?

Most manufacturers recommend once a year, ideally before the heating season. Regular service helps catch small problems before they turn into a no-heat call. Call (250) 274-0132 to book.

  • What does a boiler service include?

We check combustion and burner operation, venting and the condensate drain, system pressure, the expansion tank and relief valve, controls and safety shut-offs, and pumps and zone valves. Then we tell you what we found and anything worth planning for.

  • Combi boiler or a boiler plus a hot water tank: which fits my house?

A combi saves space and replaces two appliances with one, and suits many homes. A boiler with a separate tank can handle bigger simultaneous hot water demand. It comes down to your household size, bathrooms, and how you use hot water, and we'll give you an honest recommendation.

  • My boiler keeps losing pressure or making noise. Is it urgent?

Not always an emergency, but don't ignore it. Repeated pressure loss often points to a leak, a failing expansion tank, or a relief valve issue, and banging or kettling can mean air or scale in the system. If you have no heat, smell gas, or see water leaking, call right away. If you smell gas, leave the house and call FortisBC's emergency line first.

  • Can you connect my in-floor heat to a new high-efficiency boiler?

Often, yes. Most existing in-floor and radiator systems can be connected to a new high-efficiency boiler, with piping and controls adjusted to suit. We'll look at what you have before we quote.

  • Do you do furnaces or air conditioning?

No. We don't do furnace or air-conditioning work. We focus on boilers, hydronic heat, and hot water. Call (250) 274-0132 and we'll tell you straight if the job is ours or point you to someone who can help.
